Home care isn’t just for the elderly

Home care isn’t just for the elderly

There is a very common misconception surrounding home care that it is purely for those who are elderly. In fact, in a lot of cases, this simply isn’t true. Although caring for the elderly makes up a huge part of home care, we cover so much more than this for a variety of reasons.

Long-term rehabilitation

There are many people who live with physical disabilities that can prevent them from being able to look after themselves. This is also the case for individuals who live with mental illnesses.

Home care can cater for these people by making sure they are living in a safe and friendly environment with all the help they need.

Short-term care

If someone has undergone surgery, they might be unable to do certain things on their return home. They might require short-term care until they get back on their feet.

Although these can be resolved by having family members take on the care, this can lead to exhaustion and overworking on their part. If the family member has a full-time job, they may find it very difficult to also cater for someone who is struggling to live independently.

This service can also be offered to those with short-term illnesses, that might leave someone bed-bound or unable to fulfil routine tasks. This allows additional help on a temporary basis until you get better.

Respite care

Respite care is a temporary arrangement while regular family carers are off-duty.

Although respite care is usually planned to enable family carers to take holiday, it can also be used for when there is a family emergency or other commitments. Respite care ensures your needs are met while your family carer is away.

Home care can eliminate the difficulty of relying on family and because our carers trained and licensed, you can feel assured that they can take care of any person in need.

We understand that it can be incredibly tough to come to terms with an unexpected illness or an operation that leaves you unable to look after yourself independently. Anglia Care tries to relieve this as much as possible.
