To celebrate World Values Day, we wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on our work within the community and raising vital funds for worthwhile charities during 2018. Below we have brought together a timeline of our achievements, which we are very proud of!
6th – 12th May: Red Cross Week
During Red Cross Week, the team came together to help raise money for people in crisis. The team dressed in red to commemorate the occasion and we managed to raise £200!
That £200 could provide one person with vital support they need to recover from a fall, disability or an illness. Read more.
22nd May: The introduction of Anglia Care’s very own GERT suit!
We were keen to invest in our very own GERT suit and this was made a reality earlier this year. The suit is an integral part of our training for carers, as it enables them to empathise with older people to provide a much deeper level of care with our clients.
We also invited EADT journalist Sheena Grant to try on the suit for herself. While wearing it, Sheena mentioned that the suit had made her “age 30 years” and she could “no longer hear the birds singing”.
The suit provides a shock to the senses, which allows us to ensure that staff fully understand their clients and what an average day is like for them.
16th June: Family fun day at Ipswich YM Rugby Union Football Club
We took our GERT suit experience to the next step and decided to challenge the public!
We hosted a family fun day at Ipswich YM Rugby Union Football Club to raise money for St Elizabeth Hospice. It was a brilliant day with lots of people taking part in our GERT suit competition. All people had to do was put on the GERT suit and button a shirt…
Sounds simple enough but it is quite difficult for the wearer!
30th July: International Friendship Day
To celebrate International Friendship Day, we held a rock painting arts and crafts event at Ipswich County Library. Our aim was to not only bringing people together, but to also raise vital funds for Age UK.
Participants also got to keep their masterpiece! Read more.
11th August: Dinu charity bike ride challenge
Our very own training and recruitment manager, Dinu Morar, went the extra mile for charity and cycled 100km (60 miles) in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice.
The route was arranged by the Crafted Classique and Dinu raised an amazing £532 in the event!
17th August: The Big Chinwag rock painting
We joined Age UK Suffolk for their Big Chinwag at Kesgrave Community Centre.
As visitors enjoyed their tea and coffee, they also had the opportunity to take part in our beach-themed rock painting!
28th September: Macmillan coffee morning
Our senior carer Timi Tarkanyi organised a Macmillian coffee morning on her own birthday to help make a difference to people affected by cancer. She raised a fantastic £132!
We’re hoping to complete more community events before the end of the year!
More information on our Christmas-based initiative will be released very soon, so follow us on social media for our latest news.
