The 25-th of June commemorates the birthday of George Orwell, British dystopian author who wrote the classic novels,Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four.

George Orwell is a pseudonym of his birth name Eric Arthur Blair. He chose the name "George Orwell" after St. George, the patron saint of England and the river Orwell from Suffolk. He felt that it was a "strong, round English name".

Here are some interesting facts about George Orwell:

1) He was born in British-controlled India but moved to England at the age of one.

2) As a boy, he loved shooting, bird-watching, and fishing,activities which were a real source of inspiration for his late writing.

3) The author famous for for "Animal Farm" spent part of his fledgling career in Southwold ,Suffolk after his parents retired to a handsome house in the High Street.
